About Us
Sausalito Web Company was founded in in the year 2000 after I left my job at the Mechanic's Institute in San Francisco and started my own web company in Sausalito.
Two years ago we were honored with the privilege of designing the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce website after having won a regional contest for the best design for the site. A great honor. considering that our competitors were many large companies with multiple experts in the fields of graphics, design, programming and content.
Unfortunately, the design was never used after the Chambers wisely decided to use a template for Content Management, but our flash applet still remains on the site
I am eternally grateful for the opportunity I had at the Institute as director/web master, because it was there that I mastered the art of creating web sites.
I had free rein while holding that position therefore enabling me to torture our audience (which was international as well as local) with every new web 'trick" I learned.
The web was new at that time and a lot of our audience did not have high-speed internet access or "flash sniffers". After many complaints I decided to limit my basic reporting to HTML (xHTML was still a baby) so that my audience could follow important events, chess tournament schedules, results and games played.
After I, (with the help of a friend to whom I will always be eternally grateful) learned to hand-code basic HTML I went on to learn programming. A little Java knowledge let the world actually see the wonderful chess games played by the world famous chess grandmasters and I was even able to have our resident Grandmaster, Alex Yermolinski, play with the world.
A feat that he, without much trouble, won.

David Blohm joined me in the partnership of Sausalito Web Company in the year 2000. David is a chess player that was also responsible for developing ATM machines. An old-time ace programmer who can fix anything I create that doesn't work
